The ancient Anantheshwara Temple at Udupi has great spiritual and historical significance. This temple has been considered as seat of learning since ages for study of Veda, Vedanta, Upanishads. It was this place where Shri Madhwacharya obtained his early lessons. The architecture of the temple is very unique and this style of construction can be seen in Southern Karnataka and Kerala. The temple has typical sloping roofs.
